Madressah Charity Activities

(Ilford Muslim Society, 112 Balfour Road)

In support of Ummah Welfare Trust Projects

Organised by:

Boys: 2 classes (B11 and B09) divided into 5 groups

Girls: 1 class (G09)


Group A- Abu Bakar (R.A.H) - Football Marathon.

The football marathon was run by 6 students (Rejaul Haque, Amir Issa, Hamza Bapuji, Umar Aziz, Ozair Khan and Hamzah Nizami) on Saturday 19th May. The idea was that there were two pitches with approximately 35 students attending the event, who then played for 4 hours after Zuhr. There were 3 teams on each pitch with 6 players on each team and one team with 5 players. The winner of the first pitch then finally played the winner of the second pitch in a final. The event took place at Valentines Park.

Sponsorship money: £180 + £190 (£370)

Money raised from event: £105


Group - Umar (R.A.H) – 5 mile run

5 students (Arif Patel, Amir Issa, Sudais Khan, Junaid Arif and Zayd Patel) ran 5 miles at Ashton Playing fields in Woodford, after Zuhr on Sunday 13th May. The times were:

Arif: 1 hour 4 minutes

Amir: 48 minutes

Zayd: 1 hour 34 minutes

Junaid: I hour 3 minutes

Sudais: 1 hour 11 minutes

Sponsorship money: £260.38


Group - Uthmaan bin Affan (R.A.H) –Barbecue

The event took place on Saturday 26th May.  Yasin uncle (Yasin halal meat) provided chicken free of charge which was his contribution which was 60 pieces of chicken. Saheed uncle is also providing chicken which is free of charge and also his contribution. Zaynul uncle (Mr Spicy & KQF) donated 60 sausages and burgers. Mushtaq Uncle donated 3 cases of drinks. Apa Raheema provided burger buns as her contribution. There were 75- 85 people who attended the barbecue but this number increased to over a 100 with the organisers, helpers, supporters and teachers.

Group- Ali (R.A.H)- Football Tournament

On Saturday 26th May, 2 students, who took the lead (Bilal Ahmed, Faheem Ali) hosted a football tournament. There were 53 students playing a football tournament and there were eight teams. There were two separate leagues, 1 for the 10-11 year olds and the other for 12-15 year olds. The winners received medals. Yusuf Adam raised £342 by doing chores for his family and friends.


LEAGUE 1- Team- 5 a side

Team 1 (Winners) – Hamza Ghani, Fayyaz Gani, Hamza Patel, Adil Iqbal, Saim Chowdhry and Qais Pathan.

Team 2- Faaris Yakub, Khalid Omar, Musa Hussain, Ubaid Choudry and Mustafa Pandor.

Team 3 – Muhammed, Hamza Suleman, Ishaaq Malik, Danyaal, Hassan Adam and Raees Adam.

Team 4 – Raees Issa, Hamza Paderwala, Bilaal Choksi, Muadh Waza and Sheraz.


LEAGUE 2- Teams- 7 a side

Team 1 – Zakaria, Tahsin, Huzaifah, Abdullah, Siddiq, Ishmael, Zafir and Ibrahim.

Team 2 (Winners) – Abubakr, Amir, Umar, Mehdi, Amir, Humaid and Ahmed.

Team 3 – Sufyan, Yusuf, Umar Farooq , Owais, Gurvindar, Faheem and Bilal,.

 Team 4 – Jamil, Mikaeel, Hamza Bapujee, Hamza, Jamil Dudhwala and Rejaul, Adil.

Money raised from sponsorship from charity: £583.20

Money raised from event: £150


Group - Hamza (R.A.H)

Hamza Suleman, (who is only 11 years old) his family, relatives and friends donated £700 to charity. He set himself a target to raise £700 for the New Life Project (Somalia) in association with Ummah Welfare Trust.

New Life Project consists of:

  • A new handmade steel home
  • A 35 kg food package
  • A kitchen and wash set
  • A family-set of clothes
  • A new bedding set 
  • A hygiene set
  • A Qur’an and prayer mats Copies of Bulugh al –Maram and Riyadh as-Saliheen.


Sponsorship money: £700       


G09 Girls Class Sumaiyah (R.A.H)- Sweets

A group of 10 girls decided to sell sweets on skewer sticks. They sold the sweets after and during Madressah. Their expenses went to £15 which they contributed towards.  They raised over £100 in voluntary contributions and from the event £413 bringing the total to £513.
